Announcing newFacebook page for Randall School alumni:

Hello folks.  I just received this from Healther Reader Botts:

I didn't know about this group, so after our West High School reunion on Saturday, attended by a bunch of Randall School alumni, I started a Facebook Group called Randall School Alumni.  PLEASE join the group and notify the people you listed above also to join.  We are hoping to have a Randall School reunion sometime in the future, after we have gone to great lengths to find as many people as we can.  Thanks, Doug.  See you in the FB group, I hope!!  Sincerely,  Heather Reeder Bott

So, since most people go to Facebook much more often than this West Alumni page, I encourage you all to join me in joining the Randall School Alumni Facebook group!

It's fun to hear such reminisces.  I was there from 1963-69 so you are my seniors, but we still shared Randall teachers.  Mr. Allen was my principal throughtout although he had a heart attack after the year I left.  No connection there; I was a good kid except I had to go to see him once for throwing snowballs.  I remember one time he came into our class to spell a teacher (probably had to make a phone call or something) and challenged someone to count to 100, him by ones, the other by 3's.  I raised my hand first.  I still remember his standinging there calmly counting away while I thought of the next numbers...he won!

I had Mrs. Drews for Kindergarten; I've no doubt you two remember that name.  What about Mrs. Graham, for 1st grade?  Mrs. Meyers for gymn?  What games did you play on the playground?  For most years is was "Pom-pom," the running version of "sharks and minnows."  Happy memories of playing that game.

Mr Waterbury was my science teacher and he would always say, "When I was in the Navy" and then ramble on and then hitch his pants and snap his suspenders as his pants were always creeping down. I went on to West High, but transferred to the Milwaukee area my Junior year. Lots of memories. Mrs Kline in my memory might have been the one who wrote the school song with help from her students. She helped me audition for the Madison City Boys Choir which I was a member during the 5th and 6th grade. My four brothers attended Randall school and two of my older brothers graduated from West High: David Peterson in 1961 and Robert Peterson in 1959. You might have known Robert.

Yes, H. Ralph Allen was the principal and Mrs. Klein was the music teacher.

Miss Fosbinder was the forth grade teacher who had a huge shock of white hair and used a whistle to get attention.  Miss Simpson was sixth grade teacher.  Mis LaBeau was first grade teacher and a very special lady. Mr. Auger was the fifth grade science teacher who quit the profession (I may have had something to do with that). He was replaced by Mr. Waterbury who was a retired Navy officer.  I remember his definition of a Navy craft LST.  He said it meant "Large Slow Target" and he was quite a teacher.  I was at Randall 1946 thru 1953 and then went up the hill to West where I graduated in 1959.

Rolf, I believe Ralph Allen was the principal and Mrs. Klein was the music teacher. I remember the name "Miss Fosbinder" but not sure what she did. The others don't ring a bell. I attended Randall from 1950 to 1956.

Does anyone remember these People? H. Ralph Allen, Miss Fosbinder, Miss Simpson, Mrs. Klein, Miss LaBeau, Mr. Auger.

Just wondering...

If I recall right, our class helped write the school song. We still sing it today in our family!!!
